I also know that in most states, if the winner of a primary drops out, the law says the political party selects a replacement however they choose.
But then again, I also understand that primaries are basically a courtesy. Political parties are private entities, not part of the government. They are free to choose candidates however they like.

They run primaries to see which candidates are likely to have the most support, but they don’t have to if they don’t want to.
I know these things because I am not poorly educated. Trump loves the poorly educated.
